May Myself and I! Days 1 and 2

Hello there blog! So I wasn’t sure if I was going to do this, but I’m really happy to say that I will be using this blog to do May Myself and I this month! For those who don’t know, May Myself and I is a prompt list for the month of May created by one of my favorite internet humans Carrie Hope Fletcher. I’ll insert the prompt list at the end of this post if you’d like to join in, but I will be doing the first two days in one post so I can catch up. Happy May!

Day One: Running

I’ve never been a runner, but I LOVE athletic clothes. Not necessarily because they make me look sporty (even though I am admittedly really into the look), but because they’re just so comfortable! I live on a very big campus and I walk everywhere, so comfort and mobility are key for my wardrobe. Here are some of my favorite types of running clothes:

Tank tops! I struggle with body image pretty frequently, but one of my favorite articles of clothing to ever wear ever is tank tops because I think my shoulders are the best part of my body and I love to show them off.

Shorts with built-in undies! I’m not quite sure what to call these, but I love athletic shorts with that bit inside that kind of covers your underwear? I don’t know whose decision that was, but not only does it make it easier for me to move and not flash people constantly, but it’s also just really comfortable. Don’t ask me why, I’m not too sure myself, I just like it a lot. (Some of them even have POCKETS!)

LEGGINGS! If you know anything about me, it’s no secret that I (using my mom’s money) will not hesitate to splurge on some Lululemons. I love yoga leggings!! They’re incredibly comfortable, they’re stretchy, they breathe, some of them have the most functional pockets I’ve ever had on a pair of pants! I love them so much, they’re just the best. Also, perfect to travel in.

Sneakers(/trainers/running shoes/tennis shoes/insert local terminology here)! I’ve never worn a pair of shoes more frequently than I do my sneakers. Sneakers are just so comfortable, easy to put on, and work with anything you want to wear! I’m not talking Converse or Vans or what have you, I’m talking legit sneakers. I have weird feet (high arches, half size, wide) so it’s really hard for me to find comfortable shoes that fit. I’ve never owned a pair of flats in my life that hasn’t given me blisters, and I love sandals but I need more support than they give me on a daily basis. Sneakers have always given my feet the support they need and they fit me right because of the way they’re cushioned. I just love sneakers a lot, okay?

Shorts with pockets! I have recently discovered the amazing genre of clothes that is athletic shorts with pockets. As I said in the beginning of this post, I don’t run, so I don’t need to have super secure or tight pockets to keep things in, and the shorts I have with loose pockets are great!

I think that’s all I have to say about athletic clothes right now. I love comfort!

Day 2: Stars

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this prompt was constellations, so I’m going to talk about zodiacs! I’ve never really believed in horoscopes. I think they’re fun and harmless and I like those posts on tumblr that tell you what character from a show you are based on your star sign, but I’ve never put much stock in them, mostly because they’re wrong. Based on the day I was born, my sun sign (a.k.a. the main sign everyone knows) is Sagittarius, which I’ve never felt has described me accurately. Sagittarius are supposed to be these adventurous, intense, impulsive people who don’t care about what people think and believe they’re right all the time. I would say that I’m stubborn and relatively emotionally intense, but otherwise I’m incredibly sensitive and indecisive! I’ve always written off the inaccuracy of my zodiac by saying that I’m “emotionally adventurous”; I don’t take risks that could get me in trouble or hurt, but I take risks in terms of putting myself in emotionally vulnerable and intense situations (and even then I don’t do it often). I’m also a “rising Scorpio”, which essentially means that the way other people perceive me is as a Scorpio, which I’m honestly not super down with. Passionate? Yes. A leader? Hell no. This Hufflepuff would like to chill out in the background, thanks. I guess it’s nice that people see me that way, but I’d rather people see me for the person I actually am, you know?

That’s it for today! Thanks for reading!! This is gonna be so much fun!
